Explore St. Louis – planned trips and other items to see while in St. Louis (click on the pictures to go to associated websites):
Wednesday, August 9 — Take a trip with the CWV and enjoy the many facets of the Arch – including a movie about its construction, a general store, and of course the ride to the top of the Arch. Other attractions near the Arch (click on picture for more information on that attraction):
The majestic Old Courthouse is one of St. Louis’ most prominent architectural landmarks and is now the visitors’ center for the Gateway Arch. Visit the Old Courthouse to purchase your timed tickets to enter the Arch, ride to the top and see the film Monument to the Dream.
The Old Courthouse was the site of the first two trials of the pivotal Dred Scott case in 1847 and 1850, and where Virginia Minor’s case for a woman’s right to vote came to trial in the 1870s. You may tour this historic structure, and visit the restored courtrooms to learn more about our 19th century judicial system.
The Basilica of St. Louis, King also called the Old Cathedral. Visitors are always welcome. While tours are not allowed during services, taking time to enjoy the peace and serenity of the church is a welcome respite in the center of a bustling downtown. This basilica is a beautiful example of American sacred architecture. This is a must-see stop for the architecture, art, and an amazing organ!
Thursday, August 10 — “Take me out to the ballgame..” Watch the hometown St. Louis Cardinals take on the Kansas City Royals in what is sure to be an exciting outing for all.
Saint Louis Zoo – No visit to St. Louis is complete without a trip to the world-famous facility . Small wonder, with more than 600 species represented on 90 beautifully landscaped acres in historic Forest Park. Enjoy our animals and entertainment throughout the zoo!
Six Flags St. Louis – Truly an experience with almost too much to do in a day! Thrill rides, water rides, rides for children and for those of us that are “big kids”. Live entertainment, shopping and dining round out your “things-to-do” list while here.
Plaza Frontenac – Located down the street from the hotel is Plaza Frontenac , famous for its dining, shopping and entertainment options. Shop, eat and catch a movie – what more can you ask for?
